We have been with Missouri Employers Mutual Insurance for 6 years and they have increased their base rate so much that with our emod we are unable to pay the increased premium. We would go from paying over $500 a month to over $900 a month. We are a responsible company that has had some claims. Construction is one of the most difficult industries to achieve perfect safety we have different task different conditions ect. that affect our environment everyday. The two claims that they have had to pay on are older worker muscle and back strain that could not have been avoided by a safety measure. We are up against a cliff and ready to fall over. No other insurance company wants us because we have over a 1.0 emod which is what we started with when we took the policy out. We now have a 1.31 emod because of two claims in 98 and 99. We are being forced out of business by insurance premiums ! P.S. We have paid in much more money in premuims than they have in claims. How is the small business owner suppose to survive and do the right thing !
