My '91 Civic was recently totalled and I have chosen to repair. The damage is to the drivers side doors and the car is otherwise in excellent condition. My question is, the value of the vehicle seems fair but why do they have to deduct the salvage value from my check? Does the actual cash value factor in the salvage amount so if you decide to keep the car they then have to deduct it. I would certainly rather have that $225 dollars to put towards repair if possible since I end up losing about $400 for an accident that wasn't my fault. Do I have any recourse?
