So, my question is: what can I do to make sure the insurance company (Amica) totals it?

: Thanks, Andy

In the simplest of terms: either utilize your authority (calculate, prepare, and adjust your claim with the company adjuster), or allow the company adjuster to determine your claim without first giving your imput, and hope it comes out well at the other end. If you decide to take control of Your Claim, filing and other information is at How to know what to expect
Claim adjusting information is at http://www.disasterprepared.net/adjust.html
