The company that the insurance company used to evaluate my car's value (CCC Information Services Inc) and to calculate the total loss of it is involved in many state class actions across the country along with the insurance companies names as defendants as well. The lawsuits outline exactly our situation.
The program is called the "The Total loss Advantage" and is offered to insurance companies.
Go figure...how blatant is it to name a computer program like that?!!!
I'm including the link to the MSN moneycentral page article that gives a rundown of some of the litigations.

and if you dig, you can find out quite a bit about their software packages by reading the tech support files...they also have all of their financial info online as well.

BTW I've been browsing the disasterprepared.net site...didn't know you had a book available. (found you by way of the forum through a search engine) There's some very good info here....thank you!!!
