I have Safeco homeowners insurance. They turned down my claim for a burst pipe in my kitchen wall, saying that they found a small amount of dry-rot a 1-2 feet away (None next to the burst) which creates a combined condition old with new. They say the 'old' damage combines with the new to make the new NOT covered. Can they add up two separate problems?

They also are claiming that the burst had to be weakened by rust first which makes it a long-term condition? That sounds to me like NO burst would be covered?? Is this afain, something they can do?

These both sound suspicious to me!
