Pre-existing conditions

: My husband and I have had health insurance coverage for many years. I recently left my job and took out a short term policy wating for another job to be offered. I did not get that job, but plan to be employed soon or at least befor the 6 month policy ends. My husband was in an automobile accident recently and was seriously hurt. He may require extended PT/OT and more surgery. Will my new insurance with the new job treat this as a pre-existing condition? I had a one month lapse in coverage between the last job and the short term policy coverage, because I thought I was covered during this month!
