Car loss covered under home owners policy?

My son's car was stolen. He had a car stereo valued at over $1,500 for which he didn't have coverage for, the insurance is only willing to pay for the $350 stock radio. A policeman involved in the case suggested we checked and see if we could claim the loss under our home owners policy. We have insurance thru Allstate. Thanks.
