We are dealing with an adjustor from Geico. One
of their insured ran a stop sign and hit me and
another guy. We have and 1981 Volvo. We just
had the engine rebuilt so we could save money in
the long run. We have the documentation for $5,000
worth of work. Geico says it is a total loss and
they will give us $2,000. This is unacceptable. We
would have a car that would have lasted us at least
ten years if their insured hadn't run a stop sign!

The work was done five months ago. Our insurance
company, Farmers, isn't doing squat to help us
becasue we don't have collision with them. We have
liability and unisured motorist.

The adjustor says he has documentation of what that
car would go for on the market here in San Francisco.
I am betting that none have a rebuilt engine. What if they don't? Does
the one he is looking at have to have a rebuilt engine
within the last five months? Is the wording Fair
Market Price or do they have to find a car just like
ours with a brand new engine?

I feel very helpless and I don't know what my recourse
is. We can't afford a lawyer. Help!
